LobbyGuard, Raptor, and what happens next

Raptor has not published an end-of-life date. Raptor’s LobbyGuard page says “LobbyGuard is Part of Raptor Technologies”, points current customers to support, supplies and a knowledge base, and invites them to reach out about “transitioning to Raptor VisitorSafe”.¹ That is a migration invitation, not a sunset notice. As of 4 September 2026 we have found no public statement of a discontinuation date.

5 June 2019. The announcement described LobbyGuard as handling “over 1,000,000 visitor sign-ins each week at school, corporate, government, and medical facilities worldwide” and said it would operate as a Raptor division in Raleigh, North Carolina.²

Raptor’s LobbyGuard page still offers support (Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM ET), remote assistance and supplies ordering, and its support form lists the SL, Versa, Defender, Optio and “Olea AIO Kiosk” units.¹ A written support commitment with a duration is not published. If you are renewing, ask for one in the agreement; see question 3 of the twelve.

Most units are Windows 10 PCs with a webcam, a barcode scanner and a label printer, according to LobbyGuard’s archived spec sheets.³ A browser-based system can generally run on them; the ID scanner is the part to confirm per model. Details and caveats are on Keep your kiosk. Raptor’s store states that only equipment bought through Raptor is approved for use with the Raptor system,⁴ which concerns their software rather than your PC, but check your own agreement.

You should not, but you have to ask. Raptor’s general terms (July 2026) say that on termination you “may request Raptor to delete” personal information; we did not find an export or data-return obligation in those general terms.⁵ Request a full CSV export, in writing, while you are still a customer. VisitorSafe is Raptor’s own visitor-management product (formerly marketed as Raptor Visitor Management). Raptor says it runs “across Macs, PCs, iPads, and Android tablets” and screens against sex-offender registries “in all 50 states”.⁶ It is a separate product from LobbyGuard; Raptor’s LobbyGuard page describes a transition to it.¹

Your own agreement governs. Raptor’s current general terms provide that agreements “automatically renew for successive one (1) year renewal terms” unless either party gives written notice at least 60 days before the term ends, and that late notice is not effective — the customer “shall be responsible for payment of all Subscription Fees due for the Renewal Term”.⁵ Put the notice date on the calendar now.

Raptor does not publish a price list. Public board records show an annual per-site fee of $550 (2020) to $695 (2025–26), plus separate lines for volunteer management, SIS integration, kiosk licences, implementation and hardware. Seventeen cited records are on What districts have paid.

Raptor’s July 2026 general terms say the annual fee “may be increased from the previous annual period by the higher of the change in the CPI Index for the preceding 12 months or six percent (6%)”.⁵ Columbus City Schools’ board record shows a $5,625 increase on a $65,000 agreement described as a “vendor cost of living increase”.⁷ Your signed agreement may differ; read its fee clause.

Thoma Bravo announced the sale of Raptor Technologies to Warburg Pincus, with JMI Equity reinvesting, and later announced completion of the sale in January 2026.⁸ Raptor has said it expanded “through six strategic acquisitions”, which public reporting lists as including LobbyGuard (2019), SchoolPass (2023), PublicSchoolWORKS and PayK12 (2024) and SmartPass (December 2024).⁹

Raptor announced on 10 December 2024 that it had acquired SmartPass, a digital hall-pass product.⁹ It does not change LobbyGuard directly. It matters at renewal time if you are offered a bundle: ask for each product’s standalone price.

No. EdWeek Market Brief reports that Raptor acquired SchoolPass in April 2023.⁹ We still include it in the comparison because districts ask about it, but treat it as a Raptor product.

Raptor states screening against “registered sex offender databases in all 50 states” and, in its service-specific terms, that background checks “are performed through one or more third parties” and that Raptor “does not screen, monitor or verify” that information.⁶ LobbyGuard historically described updating its database monthly from state public information.¹⁰ EduQueue screens against Asan Digital’s own registry database covering all 50 states and U.S. territories. Whichever vendor you pick, ask which registries, how often they refresh, and whether that is in the contract.

Front-office check-in is a short workflow: ID, screen, badge, sign out. In our cutovers a desk needs about thirty minutes on the real kiosk with the real printer. The bigger effort is the data export and the watch-list verification, which is why the 30-day calendar front-loads them.
